Sunny Sunday

Slice of LIfe
This slice is part of  the 17th annual Slice of Life Story Challenge on  Two Writing Teachers! #sol24 I’m slicing every day this month, for the 11th year! Wahoo!!! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

A sunny Sunday
might remind you that
even a
short
walk in the crisp air
surrounded by blue sky and
trees still winter-brown
near the cold water
is like a breath of
spring

it
won’t
be winter forever

it won’t

and most importantly,
even teenagers
need
to skip rocks

  1. You said it! Great photo, and great reminder. And believe it or not, they won’t be teenagers forever either, so I’m glad you had that time with them.

    1. Thank you! And yep. I totally believe it… time is very very strange. So I’m forcing these boys outside to spend time with me as much as possible!

  2. This really resonated with me…big time.
    “it
    won’t
    be winter forever

    it won’t.”

This seems like a perfect metaphor for what is going on in my life right now. And am encouragement, that spring will come eventually… Even if it’s late. Thank you for these words.

    1. I had the same thought – these lines…and the repetition, the insistence of “it won’t.”

And those teen years, and the moments of joy we can capture. As quick as that rock skip.

      So beautiful on every level.

  3. We all need the reminder that “it won’t be winter forever,” and I love the unexpected ending, tying the deeply metaphorical back to the simple pleasures of reality.

  4. You described a beautiful day and the fine line between winter and spring, just as the big switch is about to happen. This is my favorite time of the seasons.
