6-word
Saturday goes quickly, thankful for Sunday
Haiku
Chore filled Saturday
Clean house, cold dog walk, Target
Mind full of unknowns
Limerick
There once was a mid career teacher
Who wondered what decisions would reach her
So much had been discussed
She didn’t know what to trust
Since trust was no longer her best feature
Rispetto
Friday night, Saturday on the horizon
Expectations for accomplishments, no less!
Then Saturday dawns, reality flies in
Do only priorities – no extra stress!
It’s the weekend, you know you deserve to chill
If you don’t take time to rest, you’ll soon get ill
Vacuum, laundry? Sure. But, big projects can wait
You need to rest, and wonder about your fate
Naani
I wander the book aisle
Stare at the titles
Wonder
Which books will I read to my class next year?
Oh, that limerick! Packs a punch.
I’m thinking about you… but I’m also thinking about the line about your class next year. What a lucky group of kids. But I also want to send you a hug at the same time. 💕
Thanks 🙂 Change is upon us!
I have not heard of a Naani before, so I just look it up!
I am sorry to hear about the changes next year and I also know your future class is luck to have you!! And your school, too!
Thanks 🙂 Change is hard, but teaching is cool and kids are amazing, so forward we go!
must* look it up!
THIS is a great post filled with the potential of poetry to change and influence our lives
I love how each format provides a window into your day/your life. I also have never heard of a Naani. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks – I hadn’t either! I was googling poetry forms to find one to try … Not sure if I did it correctly, but it was fun to try!
How is each one better than the last?! Humor, wit, retrospection, wistfulness, sass, observation, information; repeat.
Thank you! Love trying out these new-to-me poetry formats
I am very thankful for Sunday too. Great poems.
Poetic slices show that not much is needed to share one’s life. Sometimes writing in a poetic form is much more challenging than letting the stories unfold in full sentences. Today the wander/wonder in the bookstore is my favourite poem.
A poem, no matter how long or short, tells so much. I enjoy learning new poetry formats. Thanks for sharing.
Great fun to read so many different types of poems altogether. Really impressed!
