It’s not summer yet
but we had a campfire
and I willed myself to enjoy
and ignore the imperfection of
dirty dishes
dead leaves
un-mowed grass
grumpy, tired children
my to do list

crackling logs –
that perfect smokey smell

We’re so close! It’s a good thing you did the campfire last night with the weather we have this morning.
Sounds like you are making time for special celebrations, even though it’s not summer yet! Hopefully that’s coming soon!
I think anytime is a good time for a campfire! I will happily roast marshmallows any time of year.
