#sol15 March 7: My problem with Saturdays

Slice of LIfe  I am participating in the March Slice of Life Challenge: A slice a day for all of March.  You should do it too!  Thank you, Two Writing Teachers! Readers, check out their site, and start slicing!

Yesterday
Tomorrow it will feel so good to
do laundry
clean the bathroom
and the kitchen
I will help kids straighten up their rooms
fill bags for goodwill
get groceries
go on a run

Today
What a nice day to
let kids play
read blogs
and comment for the commenting challenge
Maybe I'll take the kids to a movie
I'll still fit in the run
How much longer can I ignore the laundry?

This is why being a grown up isn't really working out for me.

I tell my students to
make a to do list
color code it
start with priority one
check things off,
It will feel so good!

I tell my children to
clean up after themselves
do their chores first

I sit at my dining room table
the sun is pouring in the window
the mess is all around me

I'm trying to motivate myself
To take my own advice.

Wish me luck.

    1. Deb – I often decide to do the same… but sometimes I just can’t relax in the mess… and man can Sunday’s get stressful! But I’m trying to be more zen about the whole thing. 🙂 Thanks for commenting!

  1. So right there with you! I have a to do list about eighty miles long today, including going to the grocery store, and car wash, cleaning house, doing laundry, getting a hair cut, etc., etc., etc. And all I want to do is slice and go to a movie!

    1. Sometimes to do lists are just so depressing, aren’t they? Sometimes I like to make mine at the end of the day… a “Things I’ve done today” list. Then I feel like I’ve accomplished somethings.. .. Like “gave lots of snuggles to my kids” and “made everyone breakfast lunch and dinner” 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!

    1. I agree – a day with no responsibilities is the nicest kind! It’s hard for me to just chill out when the house is a disaster though… wish I were better at front loading all the chores so I could! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

    1. Sometimes I long for those days of being a kid when you really could just BE on a weekend… someone else did the cooking and the dishes…. ahhhhh… 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

  2. The nice thing about being an adult is that we don’t always have to follow the advice we give…as long as we are not caught and called to task because of it. 🙂

    1. Very true! Sometimes is nice to just remember that as an adult I COULD decide to not follow the ‘rules…’ it doesn’t even matter if I do or don’t… just the knowledge!
      🙂 Thanks for leaving a comment. 🙂

    1. Is this when I should start singing Frozen songs? 🙂 My problem might be that I let it go too much… but on Saturday I did a little of both… laundry all folded… took the kids to a movie. win win!

    1. 🙂 That’s what I tell myself… it will feel good if everything is all straightened and cleaned up… that’s why I wish for a clean up fairy. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

    1. The funny thing is just how many times I have to motivate myself to take my own advice. 🙂 You’d think it would be easier! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. 🙂

    1. Isn’t that the truth? There will also always be dishes… and in my house there will always be legos, puzzles, paper and markers all. over. But sometimes you just have to ignore it.
