Sunday

This slice is part of
of the March Slice of Life Challenge on  Two Writing Teachers! #sol25. I’m slicing every day in March. Thanks for stopping by!

Sunday
Boredom
an annoying kind of
dumb

Sunday
Work
a thing I should have already
done

Sunday
Rest
just there beyond my
reach

Sunday
Sun
a kind of break less break before I
teach

  1. It’s just like this. The “Sunday Scaries” is a term I picked up from teachers in this Slice of Life Writing Challenge. “Smonday”–also a new phrase. “[A] kind of break less break before I/teach.” I swear only teachers get this.

  2. This captures that, “UGH, it’s already Sunday and I have so much I need to do….” feeling. Now that I’m retired, most of my Sundays have turned back into just the day that follows Saturday. Thank you for putting into words what so many teachers feel!

  3. All of the yes to this as I vowed to make this a lazy-ish Sunday where I relax and chill out. Yeah, nope. Just nope. 6 days of work needing to mashed into two, but really one, because “Smonday”as Jodi mentioned above. I do hope you set aside some time for enjoying part of the day.

  4. You capture Sunday (and all of its feels) so beautifully in this poem…and oh! how often have I looked at work on Sunday and wished my Friday self had already taken care of business…

  5. I love the rhythm and rhyme here – and I so understand “rest just there beyond my reach” and a “break less break” – alas! Definitely a slice of the teaching life! My spring break has just begun, thank heaven.
