#sol21 March 21 A Sunday Procrastinator

Slice of LIfe
Part of Slice of Life by Two Writing Teachers March Slice a Day Challenge! I’m slicing every day this month. Thanks for stopping by!

I will always be a Sunday procrastinator.
This means all the things you think it might mean.
It means I procrastinate until Sunday.
It means I procrastinate on Sunday.

Side Quests are my thing, but so is closing my eyes to feel the sun on my face
and pouring myself another glass of seltzer water over ice
and breathing in the quiet of the chilly house while the kids play outside
and staring at my open notebooks with plans started

I will always be a Sunday procrastinator.
My house does not get cleaned on a Sunday.
My closet does not get organized on a Sunday.
This is not because I don’t want to do these chores.

I mean, I don’t – I don’t want to do the chores
but, I still plan that they will get done
but, then it’s Sunday and the sun is shining
but, then it’s Sunday late afternoon and the house is quiet

I will always be a Sunday procrastinator.
This means all the things you think it might mean.
It means I procrastinate until Sunday.
It means I procrastinate on Sunday.

  1. I can relate to all of this though I have been working really, really hard since the beginning of 2021 to not work on the weekend. You would think after all these years I would have it figured out. It has really made a difference and it was much needed this year to deal with the extra stress. I will confess this weekend I had to work on report cards but they are done and once my slice is done it will be time to relax. Don’t be too hard on yourself I think most of us are Sunday Procrastinators.

  2. I never used to be Sunday procrastinator! I have been sitting down every Sunday afternoon for years to work on lesson plans. Now, however, I’m having a hard time do them. I come up with all sorts of things to do instead! It’s terrible.

  3. The repetition seals the deal on this poem. I’m with you on the Sunday procrastination. Sundays are for enjoying (although it’s almost impossible) and then scrambling at the last minute to get everything ready for the week. Sigh…I will gladly join you on your Sunday procrastination.

  4. Likewise…procrastination to “…procrastinate until Sunday”/”…procrastinate on Sunday” makes it all inclusive

  5. The “side quests” line resonated with me. YES! And maybe all of the things on the official “to-do” list aren’t getting love and attention. But glasses of seltzer over ice. Breathing in quiet. Soaking in sunshine. These are all HIGHLY worthy tasks. =)
